Jurkovo Selo, 20 and 27.11.2017.

In November of this year (20th and 27th of January 2017), two workshops were held for caterers and managers of mountain lodges in Jurkovo Selo, in “Podžumberak” family farm. The Public Institution “Žumberak – Samobor Hills Nature Park” carried out these workshops within the EU project “I enjoy the tradition” from Slovenia and Croatia cross-border cooperation, Interreg V-A SI-HR programme. The main objective of the project is to establish a culinary transversal from Panonia to the Adriatic, which will offer visitors a unique experience of the local tradition and culinary art in the form of attractive tourist programmes. Based on the long-term active participation of local service providers, tourism programs will be carried out on unique heritage areas of Slovenia and Croatia: a vineyard cottage on Trška gora, the Botanic Garden and Museums of Ljubljana, Trubar homestead in Rašica, the pottery village of Filovci – outdoor museum, “Žumberak – Samobor Hills” Nature Park, the old towns of Prezid and Vrsar and Krapina Museums.

Under the watchful eye of the host, Snježana Klanfar, guests could try out the preparation of traditional dishes on a modern way, which they later tasted. We were preparing spreads with beans and čvarci, trouts, sausages and blood sausages, sour turnips with meat, polenta, etc. With traditional desserts, hosts and guests discussed about more active co-operation of the locals and tourist potentials of this region.
